With summer right around the corner, it’s a great time to knock out a few easy home maintenance tasks to keep things running smoothly—and help you enjoy the season stress-free.

1. Give your A/C a tune-up
Make sure your air conditioner is ready for the heat. Swap out filters, clean the coils, and check coolant lines to keep things cool and efficient.
2. Test smoke & carbon monoxide detectors
Double-check that your detectors are working properly. It’s a quick task that could save lives.
3. Deep clean your grill
Before cookout season hits, give your gas or charcoal grill a good clean. Burn off residue, scrub with a grill brush, and don’t forget to empty and clean the drip pans.
4. Freshen up decks and porches
Pollen season is winding down, so it’s time to wash away the grime. Spray down your deck (1 part bleach to 3 parts water works well) and clean your outdoor furniture. If water no longer beads on your deck, it may be time to reseal.
5. Check pool safety features
If you have a pool, inspect fences, gates, locks, alarms, and safety nets to make sure everything’s in top shape before pool days begin.
6. Clean your washing machine
It may sound odd, but washers need cleaning too—especially high-efficiency models. Use a vinegar and water mix to clean the drum and rubber seal where grime builds up.
Take a few hours now, and your home will thank you all summer long!
